  • What will Joey Barton do next? 7 potential career moves for banned Rangers bad boy

Ah well, Joey. At least you'll have plenty of time to promote the book. Confrontations with staff and teammates have led to , just as the one-time England midfielder has released his autobiography. But as Joey hits the promotion trail - and hopefully nothing else - over the next 21 days free from the distractions of training, playing and winding up everyone around him, he's doing so with plenty calling for him to never pull on a Gers shirt again. So if that proves to be the case, what could he do next? Here are some suggestions. Maybe it was a combination of his croaky voice and Ross Kemp impressions, but Burnley's Sean Dyche has been the only manager to consistently get good performances out of Barton in recent years, with the midfielder a key player in the Clarets' promotion last season. Now they look to be missing his bite in the middle of the pitch in the Premier League. Plus, if he goes back, he could teach Andre Gray According to Barton's book, Stoke boss Mark Hughes, his former boss at QPR, is 'a terrible manager' who possesses 'really, really poor' people skills. With the Potters bottom of the table and shipping four goals to Crystal Palace it's hardLyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed Nabil Fekir is looking to leave the club. The World Cup winner has been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks.Aulas said: "His preference is towards a departure."We are open to discussions. We have no news."We are waiting for proposals in the coming days but for the moment we do not have any. " to argue right now, so obviously bringing Joey in will solve everything and get those people skills back up to speed. Does Wilfried Bony read Nietzsche? It wasn't just Hughes that got it in the neck from Joey, oh no. England's finest 'Big' Sam Allardyce came under fire from the Mouth of Merseyside, who claimed that the Three Lions boss has done nothing in the game that he hasn't done - which if anything is a badge of honour, surely? So Sam, your move. Get Barton in as assistant boss and let him give you his wealth of international experience built up over 12 minutes as a substitute in a friendly against Spain in 2007. Fact finding mission to Russia, anyone? Fair play to Joey, there aren't many people who can unite the two Glasgow clubs in one common cause but he's done it. After claiming that Celtic captain Scott Brown 'wasn't on his level' before facing him - and being thrashed 5-1 - Barton was predictably given a rough ride at Celtic Park earlier this month, whilst he's later claimed that Celtic tried to sign him this summer only for him to pick Rangers - where things have subsequently gone all 'Joey Barton' for him. Hated on both sides of the city within a few months? It's a gift. After releasing his tell-all autobiography, maybe Joey will start to get a feel for the written word and turn his attention to fiction books? After a career in which he repeatedly used to claim that he was on a par with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, clearly telling tall tales comes naturally d.The striker already has a first senior goal, while he is a regular with Raul's Castilcontent_imgla."My adaption has gone well," he said in Brazil during international break. "I live in a really nice city, at the biggest club in the world, with the best footbato him. Barton's loan spell at Marseille in 2012/13 is notable for one thing and one thing alone. His mastery of the language. Speaking like a cross between Cilla Black and Laurent Blanc, Barton blundered his way through a press conference in a , leaving all who witnessed it using just one word. Merde. Dimbleby can't go on forever, can he? Barton's appearance on Question Time in May 2014 allowed the nation to hear his varying views on life, the universe and everything, and so who better to take over as the new host of the BBC programme? It's what licence fees were made for. What job would best suit Joey Barton?0+ VOTES SO FAR

  • Liverpool will resist Barcelona’s interest in Coutinho – but the Nou Camp club’s age-old unsettling tactics have, ominously, already begun

The last two players that took from remain fixtures in their first XI. And while Liverpool remain determined to resist any offers for Coutinho, there can be no doubt that the Nou Camp club have already set into motion their ominous strategy for prising the Brazilian away from Anfield. What began as the occasional drip, drip of reports has snowballed in recent weeks to front-page stories about the Liverpool man being top of Barca's list. That is fine, and happens with regularity, but it is when the procession of former Nou Camp gcontent_imgreats and people linked to the Spanish champions start to talk publicly about a player then his c's hopes of reaching the Champions League took a monumental blow after drawing to Brighton at the Emirates earlier today.Welbeck will see his contract expire at the end of the season and there are no plans afoot to extend those terms. And Emery was shlub should start to worry. It's worth saying now that Liverpool are in a far stronger position than ever as they look to stand up to Barcelona. has no buyout clause and the Premier League's television rights deal means that they don't need whatever money the Blaugrana can offer. Barca know that. They can't financially bully any English club and that's why they are likely to follow the same route they used when their seemingly never-ending pursuit of Cesc Fabregas finally succeeded. Arsenal fans were subjected to months and months of constant briefings from the Nou Camp club to the Catalan press. Former players and managers would speak out about his quality, then directors of the club would say how he had "Barcelona DNA" before, as we approached the endgame, current players began to praise him. Famously, or infamously for those in north London, it culminated in Gerard Pique and Pepe Reina physically putting a Barcelona shirt on Fabregas. Andres Iniesta came out in the same week and said: "Let's hope [he signs]... Everybody has come out and spoken of the desire we have for him to be with us next season." Lionel Messi said he'd be "delighted" if Cesc arrived. It's hardly subtle but, if you want to turn heads, it's pretty effective. We aren't at that stage yet with Coutinho, but Xavi coming out this week and speaking so openly about the Liverpool forward should be a concern to those in Anfield's more senior positions. “Coutinho is a player I have always thought is special... there are not many players that can improvwas stripped of the captaincy earlier this month after swearing at fans after they booed him against Crystal Palace. The Sun says Newcastle are hoping to take advantage of the situation with an audacious January swoop as they look to solidify their ple Barcelona, but if you are asking me if he is one of them, on this form, I think he is. "Technically he is very good. He would suit Barcelona's philosophy well.” Xavi, lest we forget, has made clear his desire to return to "the club [he] considers home" and revealed that Gerard Pique's plan is for the defender to become Barca president with Xavi as sporting director. Where this goes next is key. Should Liverpool be able to tie up Coutinho to a contract extension that gives him a salary closer to market value than his current pay packet of £80,000 per week, then the book is closed. But if the charm offensive continues, with current Barcelona players beginning to speak about what the 24-year-old would bring to the club, then the Reds should be worried. As with Fabregas, we could find ourselves in the midst of a long and fairly tiresome saga. Will Philippe Coutinho still be a Liverpool player next season?5000+ VOTES SO FAR

The effort was extra special in that Kewell, who was only 21 at the time, shot with the outside of his left boot to leave keeper Kevin Pressman well and truly beaten. Fast-forward 16 years and Kewell, now 37, rolled back the years to have a go at recreating the goal claiming "I've done it once, why can't I do it again". As the above video shows, posted online by , his first of four attempts suggests he may have been feeling a little too optimistic as he smashes the ball into orbit. With his second strike he hits the back of the net but gets too much spin and not enough height for it to be deemed a recreation.
