  • Furious, frantic Jurgen Klopp has Anfield rocking again – no wonder Liverpool fans are buzzing

Never mind 'heavy metal football'...it is clear intends his Anfield revolution to be heavy on the mental. And fans should love it. The Reds boss was beautifully barmy on Sunday in his reaction to a late, dramatic equalising goal by Divock Origi. , orchestrating a noise Anfield hasn't heard in years, and generally going crazy, the manager offered something we haven't seen here before. Of course, it provoked immediate criticism, not least from West Brom boss Pulis himself, who came face to face with the German on the touchline in an incendiary screaming match as Origi in the 96th minute, and then stomped off down the tunnel when he was refused a handshake at the end. Without offering that courtesy, Klopp turned on Baggies assistant boss David Kemp instead, to excite the fans even further. And in that, you get whole point... there is a method in this particular brand of magnificent madness. He wants Anfield to become a bastion of invincibility again. And he knows to do that, the fans must stifle the frightened, frustrated tension they displayed throughout the second half, and instead get behind the team in intimidating harmony once more. They did it at the end because of Klopp. The sight of him, frenzied, frightening, furious, punching his fist and urging the crowd to roar for the final few minutes in search of a winner was amongst the best scenes here in a long, long time. And it almost worked. It created the atmosphere required for Liverpool to snatch a winner, and not just celebrate a point Klopp still suggested would be hugely importantdelaying sale plans for Kurt Zouma. The defender spent last season on-loan with Everton.Goal says Chelsea are now waiting to appoint their new manager before a decision will be made on Zouma's future.Blues legend Frank Lampard is expected to be unveil in the development of his side. Only the resilience of West Brom's brilliant defence stopped the shots that rained down in the dying seconds. It also banished the idea, perhaps forever, of Reds fans disappearing 10 minutes from the end, because who the hell wants to miss out on any of this? And that again is what Klopp wants, Anfield to be like the yellow wall of Dortmund. If he carries on like this he'llcontent_img get it too. Liverpool were, in truth, bloody awful at the back, terrifyingly incompetent at dealing with West Brom's set piece bombardment and aerial dominance. Welcome to the Premier League, Jurgen. And yet they somehow clawed their way back from an impossible position - which the visitors deserved make no mistake - tode Ligt ahead of their Champions League tie.Bosz coached De Ligt at Ajax.“When I was coaching Ajax he was only 17, but he was a great player even then," Bosz said.“There are only a few talents like him around. Juve are a great team, who are diffi move a point closer to the top four, because of a new found spirit, and new found belief despite their painful failings. Klopp will need to make changes in January though, in particular a centre half who doesn't switch off at set pieces and can organise and terrorise. Here, West Brom almost stole victory because he doesn't have one. It all started well enough, Liverpool dominating the early exchanges and taking a deserved lead after two Christian Benteke misses, when Philippe Coutinho floated in a delightful ball, Lallana headed down and skipper Jordan Henderson swept in. But then the doubts started on the terraces and eventually in the team, and that insecurity was exposed inevitably from a set piece, when Simon Mignolet flapped at a corner, and defender Craig Dawson eventually prodded home. It is easy to blame the keeper, but he is hardly helped by the uncertainty in front of him, a lack of belief illustrated by the goal Albion had – correctly - disallowed on the stroke of half time, but in confusing minutes of deliberation between officials, not one Reds defender appealed. It is as if they are resigned to being beaten at set pieces. And of course it came true when Martin Skrtel slept at a Chris Brunt near post corner and the outstanding Gareth McAuley got in front to head home. A bad goal, and not Mignolet's fault. After Adam Lallana missed badly, Salomon Rondon should have made sure soon after when he shot wide, but Liverpool got their lifeline with the official deciding on eight minutes of stoppage time (again correctly), and sub Divock Origi offered a good advantage by the ref after a foul to turn and slam home off the unfortunate McAuley. Cue pandemonium, and It is a mouthwatering prospect. Will Liverpool finish in the top four?4000+ VOTES SO FAR

He booted a TV microphone on the side of the pitch as he wrestled the white shirt off his back. And when he managed to finally get the shirt off, Vivas revealed an enormous tattoo that covered the entirety of his back. Incredibly, some officials content_imgstood by the end of the tunnel barely batted an eyelid at Vivas's antics - almost as if it is a regular occurrance. • Alexandre Lacazette vs Olivier Giroud – the stats that show which striker Arsenal are better off with

It's no secret that have made an attacking signing their No1 priority in this most crucial of transfer windows. After missing out on the top four and a place in next season's , the Gunners are keen to put that right with a statement signing signalling they are serious about competing at the top of the , which has . A signing up front has taken on extra significance with and - who both have just 12 months remaining on their current deals - depart the Emirates for pastures new. And among the many rumours swirling around, two attacking options have been heavily linked to the north London club. Monaco wonderkid Kylian Mbappe is the hottest property on the market currently, and . With Real Madrid leading the chase, it's unlikely the Gunners will stump up the eye-watering £120m he's valued at. As a result, Lyon's goal machine Alexandre Lacazette has stepped forward to be the man most likely to join Arsene Wenger's series reviewing recent books on the women's football scene, we look at Caitlin Murray's new book on the women's game entitled: The National Team: The Inside Story of the content_imgWomen Who Changed Soccer (Published by Abrams Press—New York—2019).This boomen - potentially with But who would be the smart choice to be leading the line at the Emirates come the start of the season? We've crunched the numbers to see the stats which could well be influencing Wenger's thinking in his pursuit. Handily, since Giroud joined Arsenal in 2012, the two have played exactly the same amount of games (164) giving us a fair comparison of their key stats. Opta The Arsenal man edges this one, despite Lyon often finishing in the top four like Giroud's current club. Opta Lacazette is the big, big winner here - notching a whopping 94 goals to Giroud's 69 since 2012. If the Gunners want more goals, Lacazette seems a smart choice. Opta Giroud's benefit to the Arsenal team can often be seen in his hold-up play and assist rate, so unsurprisingly he pips Lacazette here, although not by much - Giroud's haul of 23 assists is only better than his count 90th-minute own goal ensured the Eagles claimed a draw at Etihad Stadium in a remarkable conclusion to the game. The result leaves champions City 13 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, who have two games in hand and play Manchester Unitederpart's by four. Opta Owing to his superior return in front of goal, Lacazette nails this - taking an average of 15 minutes less to find the back of the net compared to Giroud. Opta Giroud may have taken more shots (429) than Lacazette (396), but the Lyon man is clearly more efficient at that end of the pitch. Opta And here's the proof: Lacazette's shooting accuracy is a shade over 10% better than his France teammate's. So there you have it, Arsenal fans. It's a close run battle, but if you're looking for goals to get yourself back in the top four next season, it may be an idea to freshen things up in the shape of one Alexandre Lacazette. At least Giroud wins in the handsome stakes, eh? Will Lacazette fire Arsenal to the title?21000+ VOTES SO FAR

  • Steven Gerrard makes LA Galaxy debut – but how did he get on in first ever club game not in Liverpool red?

made his LA Galaxy debut last night playing the first half for his new team against Mexican side Club America. It was the first time in his 17 year career he had stepped out in a ccontent_imglub jersey th seconds into Chinese Second Division Qingdao Huanghai's final game of the season on Saturday. The midfielder, 36, aimed a kick at his opponent off the ball, and was dismissed following a VAR review. The match is said to be Toure's final appearance in at wasn't a Liverpool one, however in just 45 minutes he showed off early signs of the class that made him a Merseyside icon. As his name was called out during the team announcement, there were roars from the 27,934 sell out crowd at StubHub Center stadium. It was apparent that he was popular with the fans even before he kicked a ball during the match which saw his new team win 2-1 in the International Champions Cup. On the 21st minute, Gerrard, 35, almost gave them something to cheer even louder for, as well as cement himself a dream California debut when he burst into the penalty box in his trademark fashion only to be denied by a terrific save by Club America's goalkeeper, Hugo Gonzalez. Gerrard came close twice before that, once with a volley on the 20th minute that went wide of the post. His first minutes were low key as he faced perhaps the biggest challenge of his career - adjusting to playing with this new team, which includes his former Liverpool team mate, Robbie Keane and ex-West Ham player Sebastian Lletget. Though this was hardly surprising as the midfield legend hadn't played a match since his final game for Liverpool nearly two months ago. Gerrard's new boss, LA Galaxy's head coach Bruce Arena had nothing but positive words to say about his new player though, saying that his first match was “very encouraging.” Speaking after the game, Arena said: “He looked like he belonged, his passing was very good, and his partnership with Juninho was very good too. “It was very encouraging, his leadership was good.” Arena, however, said he doesn't expect his new star to be at his best just yet, adding: “It will probably take about a month for him to build into the team. “He needs to play some games, but it was a good 45 minutes for him.” Despite not getting his fairytale start, LA Galaxy won with Gerrard's close friend Keane scoring on the 44th minute to take the Californians level after they went 1-0 down following a sixth minute goal from Darwin Quintero. And on the 80th minute, Alan Gordon scored the winner for Gerrard's new side. Gerrard will make debut on Friday against the San Jose Earthquakes, though he may star in LA Galaxy's US Open Cup match away to Real Salt Lake on Tuesday. Gerrard said making his debut for new team LA Galaxy was a "great feeling." However, the 35-year-old midfielder admitted that the 45 minute stint was physically "tough" having not played competitively for nearly two months following his emotional departure from Liverpool. Speaking after the match, he said: "It was a difficult game and I thought [Club América] were very good. "I thought after 15 or 20 minutes that the team settled really well, we played some good football and we got our deserved equalizer. "For me personally, it was good to get 45 minutes under my belt and I’ll keep getting better and better and the more I get used to my teammates, I’ll improve.” Now Stevie is looking forward to his next games. He is hoping to play against Real Salt Lake on Tuesday in the US Open Cup, and is also excited at making his MLS debut on Friday. The midfield ace added: "Physically, it was tough. I haven’t played a competitive match for six or seven weeks so it was very important that I got out there and got 45 minutes. "Hopefully I get some more minutes Tuesday [in the U.S. Open Cup match at Real Salt Lake] and be ready for the big game on Friday [against the San Jose Earthquakes]." Gerrard arrived in Los Angeles two weeks ago with wife Alex, 32. He is reportedly earning £76,000 per week at the MLS club but has already been “I will tell you something, we have seen a few people,” he told the Sunday Mirror. “Alex and I went into a restaurant the other day and we saw and , it was so strange but amazing. So different. They were just sat there eating. “Then, the other day I saw just walking down the street, it was mad, really strange to see. “I didn’t realise how small he is. We’ve seen some celebrities around and about since being here.” Gerrard's move to LA Galaxy was one of the biggest of the summer, but who else could be on the move? "In simple terms, if we do as badly as we did last season and Italy and Germany do as well as they did last season, then that fourth position would come under threat for next year.” Which Premier League club will go furthest in this season's Champions League?1000+ VOTES SO FAR

  • Robbie Savage column: Leicester title won’t just be about their big three but lesser lights who stood tall

Part of me hopes don't win the title at Old Trafford on Sunday, but instead lift the trophy in front of their own fans at the King Power next weekend. , deserves to aham Cummins has recalled facing Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk in the Dutchman's final game for Celtic.Cummins was playing with St Johnstone at the time as Van Dijk was set to move south to Southampton.“He left the day after we played against thembe on the pitch when they clinch the deal because he has been such a catalyst for the most incredible football story of them all. But if they plant a blue flag at the Premier League summit, and copy Arsenal in 2002 by , it will not just be about Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N'Golo Kante. Leicester's triumph will be a tribute to a supporting cast who held firm when the pressure was intense. I'm thinking here about the likes of goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, set to follow in the footsteps of his father 17 years after his dad won the last of his five titles with United. Kasper didn't even keep a clean sheet until October 24 - but he has marshalled 15 shut-outs in the 26 games since then. That's a remarkable record. No complaints from me that David De Gea was voted No.1 keeper in , but Schmeichel and Tottenham's Hugo Lloris cannot have been far behind in the poll. Every title-winning side has a solid defensive block, and in front of Schmeichel, no centre-half pairing has been more resolute than and Robert Huth. When they needed to keep their nerve on the run-in, Leicester kept five consecutive clean sheets, including four 1-0 wins in a row. Morgan has been a fantastic captain, but Leicester's results on their astonishing catapult from bottom of the table to champions in the space of 12 months can be traced back to Huth's arrival from Stoke for just £3million. In the Premier League, the Foxes have won 28 and drawn 13 of their 48 games with Hcontent_imguth - who was there on loan for the second half of last seaoy Daniel James admits that Ryan Giggs influenced his move to the club.United secured the signature of James from Swansea this week, as the 21-year-old dotted the i's and crossed the t's on his contract.Other clubs were interested in James, but it apson - in the side, keeping 21 clean sheets. The German has been immense, and that partnership with Morgan will now go down with Tony Adams and Steve Bould at Arsenal, or Chelsea's John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho and United's Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic as a title-winning double act at the heart of their side. I have also been hugely impressed with Danny Drinkwater in midfield, while Marc Albrighton has been an unsung hero providing width and crosses into the box and Christian Fuchs has been a revelation at left-back. But, looking back, the moment I sensed Leicester were going to win the title was when Leonardo Ulloa - another unsung member of their back-up cast - popped up with on February 27. They had been frustrated all afternoon. Norwich had closed down the supply lines to Mahrez and Vardy like a team fighting for their lives needs to, and it looked like Leicester were going to drop important points at home at a time when Arsenal looked like their nearest challengers. But Ulloa found the way through, and that convinced me Claudio Ranieri had a squad who could keep their nerve all the way to the winning post. It's going to be absolutely incredible if Leicester finish the job on Sunday afternoon. I thought the Leicester team who won the League Cup twice under Martin O'Neill would go down as legends - but this is something else.
