  • NFL Week 8 Power Rankings: Packers climb behind Aaron Rodgers, Cowboys and Vikings also move up

    content_img

    What's wrong with ?

Many were asking that very question for much of this season. Now we know the answer.

    Nothing.

Rodgers has taken some time to adjust to playing in Green Bay's new offense, but against the Sunday we saw that he's plenty comfortable in it now. Rodgers threw five touchdown passes, and scored one more on the ground, as the blew out Oakland to get to 5-1 and remain as one of the NFC's best teams.

There were actually people writing that Rodgers wasn't elite anymore as he got off to a relatively slow start in the first five games.

He wasn't bad, but he wasn't Aaron Rodgers. He came into Sunday's game with eight touchdown passes and two picks. He left with 13 and two and had one more incompletion than he did touchdown passes. His passer rating was perfect and he threw for 429 yards.

Still think he's not elite anymore?

The barely worked up a sweat against the , but can they finish the season unbeaten? John Breech, Ryan Wilson and Sean Wagner-McGough join host Will Brinson to break it all down along with the AFC playoff picture and more on the Pick Six Podcast; listen below and  for daily goodness fired into your eardrums.

Rodgers has the Packers up to No. 4 in my Power Rankings this week, with three of foet this summer. The German club are hoping to expand on their success this season.Leverkusen secured a Champions League position thanks to their Bundesliga finish. And the club's manager Peter Bosz believes they can hold onto key players such as Julianur teams at the top in the NFC. The Packers face a stiff test at Kansas City Sunday night, but they will get the without .

That cheats us from seeing a battle between two of the best in the NFL throwing the football, but at least we can see a hot Rodgers that night.

1 They keep on rolling with few challengers in the AFC. And we really haven't come close to seeing the best of this group yet on offense. The defense is special. --12-4-0 2 That defense continues to dominate, which is why they are 6-0. But at some point, the offense will have to crank it up. --13-3-0 3 They are now 5-0 without Drew Brees. Sean Payton has done a masterful job with this team. Teddy Bridgewater has been impressive. --13-3-0 4 With the offense getting it going, and the defense having a big-time pass rush, the Packers will be a tough out come playoff time. 113-3-0 5 It wasn't pretty against the Dolphins, but they found a way. That's what good teams do. They have the look of a playoff team. 110-6-0 6 The defense was back against the Seahawks. That's been their calling card for years and it enabled them to win a big road game. 114-2-0 7 They've won two straight games behind the passing of Kirk Cousins. He has been outstanding the past two weeks and now faces his former team in Washington. 310-6-0 8 Just when it seems like they are cruising to a playoff berth and Russell Wilson is on his way to an MVP, the Seahawks laid an egg at home against the Ravens. The good news is Wilson faces the Atlanta defense this week. 411-5-0 9 They come off their bye with a tough road trip to face the undefeated 49ers. That's a defense that will challenge Kyle Allen, who has not lost a game at quarterback. 15-11-0 10 Jacoby Brissett is improving by the week, which is not a good thing for the rest of the AFC South. This team is the best in that division right now. 17-9-0 11 They got back on track against the Eagles in a dominant way. They head to the bye as the class of the NFC East - even after losing three straight at one point. 68-8-0 12 They will find out for while what it's like to be without Patrick Mahomes, who dislocated his kneecap. It's Matt Moore time for now, starting with a tough Sunday night game against the Packers. --12-4-0 13 They head to London this week to play the Bengals in a game that should get them to 5-3 as they head to the break. The offense came to life against the Falcons - but who doesn't? 59-7-0 14 They are now in the middle of playing five straight away from home, which is downright brutal. This week, they travel to play the Texans in Houston. The defense fell apart against Aaron Rodgers. 57-9-0 15 At 3-4, they have a real chance to get to .500 against the Jets this week at home. The offense rolled up big numbers against the Bengals. 66-10-0 16 Their offense is woeful at times and just won't allow them to win many games. The defense hasn't been as good the past two games either, which makes Sunday's game against the Chargers a must-win for both teams. 38-8-0 17 Two straight division losses has them reeling a little bit, even though they did some good things in both games. The defense isn't good enough. 33-12-1 18 The defense hasn't been good enough this season, which needs to change this week against the Raiders. At least they get to play a team that's been on the road for a month. 310-6-0 19 They have a ton of issues and are in the midst of a brutal stretch of schedule. Can they turn to have cut all ties with Chelsea. After a nightmare season at Chelsea, he sees Diego Simeone as having thrown him a lifeline to get his career back on track."Atletico [Madrid] are the best thing that could have happened to me," said Morata in an int it around after two straight losses? 39-7-0 20 Mason Rudolph should be back for the Steelers against Miami. They come off their bye with a winnable game and I expect big things from him in this game. 18-8-0 21 They come off their bye at 2-4 with a tough road game against the Patriots. Can they get the offense going against that tough defense? Good luck. 16-10-0 22 They've won three straight games and they've done it different ways. The defense was dominant against the Giants. 15-10-1 23 The move to go to Ryan Tannehill proved to be the right one against the Chargers. He was much better than Marcus Mariota and the Titans won a tough one. 69-7-0 24 They just aren't close to being good enough on offense. How long before they go to Drew Lock when he's ready at quarterback? 27-9-0 25 At 2-5, their season will rest on the next two weeks with games against the Bears and Packers. They find new ways to lose games every week. 15-11-0 26 They had a chance to get back into the race with a victory over Arizona, but the offensive line was of his career thus far.Still only 26, Digne has managed to play in four of the top five leagues in Europe with five different clubs.Developed in Lille, he then joined Paris Saint Germain before going to Serie A with AS Roma, then Spain at FC Barcelonbrutal. Daniel Jones has leveled out as a result of that. 14-12-0 27 They come off the bye with a tough road game at Tennessee. This stretch of schedule for them is so unfair. Jameis Winston needs to bounce back. 17-9-0 28 They just can't score enough to win games. When do they go to Dwayne Haskins? Is it time soon? 13-13-0 29 What happened to Sam Darnold against the Patriots? They better hope that doesn't linger and he can get past it. Or else. 17-9-0 30 How much longer does Dan Quinn have? Do the Falcons make a change during the bye week? --7-9-0 31 This is a bad team that doesn't have much help in terms of talent. The injuries have crippled them. Why not trade A.J. Green? --2-14-0 32 At least they competed at Buffalo. The decision to play Ryan Fitzpatrick was the right one to give them a chance to win games. --5-11-0

  • John Harbaugh, Ravens want Lamar Jackson to try and avoid unnecessary hits

    content_img

wheels were put on full display during the ' 23-17 win in Week 6 over the as the second-year quarterback rushed for a career-high 152 yards on 19 carries and added a touchdown to s Gareth Southgate says that he knew Mason Mount would be a star for the national team when he was only 16.The Chelsea midfielder is set to get his first start in their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.Mount will be in the team against the Czech Republiboot. While Jackson, who also completed 21-of-33 for 236 ya Roberts is in his plans.Roberts impressed during pre-season but Todd Cantwell's form in the Premier League had kept him out the sidelines.Farke said: “We totally believe in him or we would not have tried so hard to bring him in.“He is a brillianrds passing, found success on the ground, the Ravens brass is preaching risk vs. reward when he decides to go out and put on the burners.

"I'm impressed with his toughness, there's no question about that. The goal is not probably to take certain hits," head coach John Harbaugh said during his Monday press conference, via . "There were probably two in them there that I probably would've rather seen him not get hit on, you know? But I think we also have to acknowledge that those are going to happen throughout the course of the year — hopefully less rather than more.

"You don't want a quarterback — I wouldn't expect him to be running that many times very many times this year; that's just the way it went."

Of course, Jackson's legs are a weapon that Baltimore will want to utilize over the course of the year, but the sentiment behind Harbaugh's words is simply to try and limit injury risk. When Jackson does decide to tuck it and run, he opens himself up to vicious hits that normally elude quarterbacks.

Baltimore is currently in the driver's seat in the AFC North race at 4-2 and Jackson is a prime reason because of it. He isn't spoken about in the same MVP discussions as , or , but he should be. He's completed 65.1% of his passes this season for 1,507 yards, eleven touchdowns, and five interceptions while rushing for 460 yards and two more scores.

Because of his importance to the Ravens offense, an injury to Jackson could be nuclear, so Harbaugh is illustrating that he'll need to figure out on the fly if the juice is worth the squeeze when he dechim Diaz is fielding loan interest ahead of the January market.Radio Marca says one of those clubs interested in the forward is Alaves. The Basque club see Brahim as the perfect player to play behind their two strikers Joselu and Lucas Perez.Alaves feides to use his legs instead of his arm.

Barnett's hit didn't warrant a suspension because he turned and hit Williams with his shoulder at the last minute, according to the explanation by Schefter. Williams was wrap first win as Brighton manager. The Seagulls sealed an impressive 3-0 away win over Watford thanks to goals from Florin Andone, Neal Maupay and an own goal from Abdoulaye Doucoure.Potter said: "Of course we are very happy with the result and the perfoped up by Eagles linebacker for several seconds and with Chelsea for Michy Batshuayi. Now inside the final 18 months of his current deal, Batshuayi is threatening to stay next season and run down his contract. As such, reports Le Soir, Chelsea are alerting intermediaries to the Belgium international's avas trying to make forward progress .

"I was running to the ball and I didn't hear a whistle. I went in and tried to tackle him because we're playing football. I wasn't trying to hurt anybody because it's our livelihood," Barnett said, . "So I don't wish [harm] upon nobody. And I heard he's doing he's alright, he's good.

"I told hiir top January targets.Bruce had been interested in bringing Olivier Giroud on loan from Chelsea but the striker now looks set for Inter Milan."If there's something available and there's a deal to be done, we'll try to do it," he said. The Eagles capitalized on the turnover and scored a touchdown to take a 21-13 lead late in the first half.

Barnett will likely be fined for the hit, even though the suspension isn't coming. He finished with four tackles, two quarterback hits, a sack and a forced fumble. , hours after his violent hit.

  • Sunday Night Football odds: Browns vs. Rams picks, top predictions from proven projection model on 79-53 run

The will try to get their sputtering offense in gear when they square off against the on Sunday Night Football at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland. Expected to have a dynamic offense after acquiring receiver Jr. to pair with quarterback and running back , the Browns (1-1) are averaging 360.5 yards per game, whichchance to shine. The likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson have all impressed so far this season. And Emery will continue to give them opportunities if they maintain their high level of performance.Speaking after Thursday's win over ranks just 15th in the league. Even worse, the Browns are scoring just 18.0 points per game, which ranks 23rd in the . On Sunday, they meet a Rams (2-0) team that is coming off an impressive 27-9 win over New Orleans. Kickoff is set for 8:20 p.m. ET. Los Angeles is a four-point favorite in the latest Rams vs. Browns odds, while the over-under for total points scored is 47.5. Before you make any Rams vs. Browns picks of your own, make sure you check out what the SportsLine Projection Model has to say.

The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up more than $7,000 for $100 players on its top-rated since its inception four years ago. It has nailed its recent top-rated NFL picks, entering Week 3 of the 2019 NFL season on a strong 17-10 run that dates back to last season. It's also on a 79-53 roll on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season. Additionally, it nailed the (+4) covering against the and the (-18) covering a massive spread against the with room to spare in Week 2.

The model ranked inside the Top 10 on NFLPickWatch for the third straight year on straight-up NFL picks and beat over 96 percent of CBS Sports office pool players. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

Now, the model has dialed in on Browns vs. Rams. We can tell you it is leaning over, and it has also generated an against the spread pick that hits in over 50 percent of simulations. That one is only available at SportsLine.

The model has taken into account that the Rams currently have five sacks, tied for No. 14 in the NFL, and has two of them. But it stands to reason that and thlsea players to relish the pressure of the top-four race. The fourth-placed Blues are currently the hunted team, with Spurs only a point behind after a win over Aston Villa on Sunday. They face Manchester United on Monday in a blockbuster clash, and Lae rest of the defensive line should get their share of opportunities against Mayfield. Cleveland's quarterback has one of the slowest snap-to-throw averages in the league and prefers to try for big plays as opposed to short routes or check downs.

Los Angeles' offense has also already seen the benefit from the return of the sure-handed , who missed the second half of last season and the playoffs because of a knee injury. As most trusted option, Kupp has 12 catches for a team-high 166 yards through two games. His 66-yard catch and run against the set up Goff's touchdown plunge and essentially sealed the victory.

Even so, Los Angeles is far from a sure thing to cover the Browns vs. Rams spread on Sunday Night Football.

Cleveland has a pass-rushing prowess off the edge in . The former No. 1 overall pick leads the league in sacks (five) through two games. He is coming off a game in which he had three sacks against the . Led by Garrett, the Browns are allowing just 192.5 pa a return to Chelsea. The Chelsea-consider-England-assistant-manager-Steve-Holland-boss.html">Daily MailChelsea-consider-England-assistant-manager-Steve-Holland-boss.html"> says Chelsea are considering Holland as a potential replacement coach if Maurissing yards per game, which is the fifth-best in the NFL.

In addition, the model has factored in that Goff does not perform as well on the road. Since the beginning of last season, Goff has 12 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions and an 81.1 quarterback rating on the road. Those stats are drastically different at home, where he has 23 touchdowns versus just three interceptions and has a quarterback rating of 113.1.

  • Justin Herbert NFL Draft scouting report: What went right and what didn’t go right against Montana

    content_img

Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert could be a polarizing prospect during the NFL Draft process. He possesses all the traits: size, enough mobility to extend the play and a cannon attached to his right arm. However, he has been inconsistent with his accuracy and other fine details. CBS Sports took a deep dive into the Oregon native's tape against Montana.

What Herbert did weesse Lingard should have scored his chance early in their 2-0 loss to Watford. The Red Devils suffered a humiliating Premier League defeat against the team that was rock bottom of the table. But they did have a golden opportunity to take the lead earlyll

As noted, Herbert possesses ideal size. He has devoted his offseasons to gaining weight necessary to withstand the brutal hits that he could sustain within the Pac-12 and . His sturdy frame allows him to shake off would-be tacklers and have a second chance to make a play. It was on display Saturday in the team's 35-3 win over Montana. On one of his five touchdown passes, Herbert side-stepped a defender, rolled out of the pocket and threw a duck to wide receiver Johnny Johnson III for an 18-yard touchdown in the final minute of the first half.

Oregon did not receive much competition from the Grizzlies. The quarterback completed 30-of-42 pass attempts for 316 yards and five touchdowns. There were a lot of screens where yards after the catch boosted his statistics, but that happens with all quarterbacks. Last season, Herbert completed just 59.4 percent of his passes. Those results were due to poor footwork in the pocket. It looks as though he worked hard on his technique this offseason because he has completed 77.3 percent of his passes in 2019.

The 21 year old looked really calm and comfortable in the pocket this weekend. He was able to estabUnder new boss Lampard, the Denmark international has started in all three games, and gave a glimpse into what it is like under the iconic former Chelsea midfielder."So far, it's been good," Christensen told Sky Sports. "I've got a lot of game time ilish a solid base and align his body with the target for most of the game. Montana senior inside linebacker Dante Olson and senior safety Josh Sandry are both potential draft prospects, but it is difficult to compete against an Oregon offensive line that features five future NFL linemen.

On this touchdown to tight end Jacob Breeland, Herbert pump fakes to the running back in the flat (reminder, they threw a lot of screens) and it drew Sandry up, which allows Bree United midfielder Sean Longstaff.Toon have no desire to sell Longstaff, who is under contract until 2022.However, ESPN claim United have hope the 21-year-old could be convinced about a move to Old Trafford. The Red Devils have been in discussions witland to sneak up the sideline for an easy pitch and catch.

Those are some of the small details that Herbert needs to continue improving upon. I wanted to start with those because it is always easy to take the check down in the end: his arm strength. There are not many college quarterbacks who can throw the out route like Herbert. On the first play of this montage, the 6-foot-6, 237 pound quarterback shows off his arm by throwing the ball just as Breeland gets his head around to find the ball.

When a strong-armed quarterback can throw with this much anticipation, the defense has no chance.

    Where Herbert could improve

While there were more positives than negatives this week, Herbert can always find an area for improvement. When pressured, it appears that Herbert gets flustered and is known to take his eyes from downfield. He does not have a natural feel in the pocket yet. There are quarterbacks playing on Sunday who seemingly have eyes in the back of their head and can detect the faintest sense of danger.

Ball placement could be better for the Eugene, Oregon native. He made a dangerous throw down the sideline that should have gone to the back shoulder. The defender was in the hip pocket of the wide receiver every step of the way.

He has done a better job of manipulating the defense with his eyes, as noted in the wheel route that went for a touchdown above. There are times where he will stare down a receiver. On this play, as Ian Wharton notes, he senses a little bit of pressure and tries to fit the ball into a tight window but it sails low and behind. The ball falls harmlessly to the ground, but the linebacker was watching his eyes the entire time. If he could have held the linebacker with his eyes for one more second, then a window may have opened. He was already feeling the pressure of the blitz though.

Herbert can get away with that at the collegiate level but the success rate will not be nearly as high in the big leagues. He has a strong arm but he can ill afford to give the defensive back an advantage. On a wide receiver screen, he did not see the linebacker playing up and it could have been a pick six had it been six inches lower.

    Takeaway

Herbert has already shown better accuracy and more consistency in his mechanics this season to go along with his strong arm and ideal frame. If he can improve his pocket awareness and his understanding of what the defense is showing him, as well as how to manipulate the defense with his eyes, then he will be impossible to defend.

will continue to monitor his progression but there are several reasons to like what he brings to the table. There is no way that the Ducks quarterback falls to the second round. Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa is his primary competition to be the No. 1 overall selection in the 2020 . He has the higher upside but his floor is starting to rise as well.

  • Jets safety rips NFL, calls the league a ‘damn joke’ after being given huge fine for Baker Mayfield hit

    content_img

safety is likely going to have to write a $21,000 check to the after being hit with a huge fine this week, and let's just say, he's definitely not happy about the situation.

Adams took to Twitter on Wednesday night to rip the NFL for taking his moneyt sell their stars in January. The Foxes are flying in third position on the Premier League after 12 matches. This has lead to the likes of James Maddison and Caglar Soyuncu being linked with other clubs, but Rodgers is adamant they are going nowhere.".

"This league is a damn joke! I just got fined $21,000 for this hit, I signed up to play football, not two hand touch," Adams wrote. "Bulls---! I don't give a damn about these soft rules protecting QBs. I'm gonna play MY brand of football every time I step on the field."

The fine stems from a hit that Adams put on  quarterback on Monday night.

On a third-and-8 play from the 50-yard line, Mayfield rolled left and threw an incomplete pass to . Just as Mayfield let the throw go, he was hit by Adams, who knocked the quarterback to the ground.

The officiating crew reacted by immediately throwingthe praise he received after Tuesday's win over Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup.The Spaniard was impressive in the 1-0 victory, which saw the Reds field their youngest ever line-up.And Critchley says the performance was a result of Chirivella's hard wo a flag on the Jets safety, who was called for roughing the passer. Apparently, Adams doesn't think he should have been flagged for anything, and he also doesn't think he should have been fined.

The NFL's calls for a player to be docked $21,056 in pay for his first roughing the passer offense, which is a large chunk of change for Adams, who only pulls in $37,941 per game.

The good news for Adams is that he might be able to win if he decides to appeal the fine, and that's because the officiating crew from the game seems to be on his side. According to Adams, the crew actually apologized for throwing the flag on him.

"After the game, [the officiating crew] came to the coaching staff and ," Adams said Thursday, via ESPN.com. "Those guys have a tough situation as far as calling certain calls, so it's very tough for me to get mad at them, because they have a tough jol legend Jamie Carragher says they must buy before the transfer deadline falls.Carragher has urged Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to sign a couple of players this summer. When asked if he'd be happy if Liverpool didn't sign anyone else, Carragher told Ofb."

Anyway, you can see Adams' tweet -- which contains some NSFW language -- and .

  • Vikings 2019 roster: Minnesota’s depth chart officially set for Week 1

    content_img

The took a step backward in 2018, but after some changes to the coaching staff, they are expecting big things in 2019.

Former Vikings quarterbacks coach Kevin Stefanski is entering his first full season as the team's offensive coordinator. John DeFilippo was fired after an embarrassing 21-7 loss to the on Monday Night Footbalolo winger Jeremie Boga has left the door open to a return to Chelsea.Chelsea do have a buy-back clause but reports in Italy suggest the clubs are negotiating to remove it.However Boga has hinted he could return to the club, if he feels he'll get a cl, and it quickly proved to be the right move, as Minnesota's offense exploded for 41 points the following week.

Stefanski brought some creativity to this offense in the final three games of the 2018 season, and it's a trend that expected to continue into 20hs of his tenure.McAteer believes Klopp will leaving his post in 2021 and be replaced by Rangers boss Steven Gerrard.“Steven Gerrard made a clever move going to Rangers to begin his management career and I wouldn't be at all surprised if stop two o19. The former Washington Redskin did have some good performances last year, but the bad ones are what have stuck in the minds of fans all offseason. Look no further than the last game of the season, when the Vikings hosted the divisional rival in a win-and-you're-in situation. Minnesota put up just 10 points while Cousins threw for just 132 yards and one touchdown. The Vikings' first four drives of the game were three-and-outs, when the offense was charged with being at its best.

Cousins still did put up career numbers, and with a full year under his belt in this offense, we should again expect the Vikings to make the playoffs.

The Vikings have now finalized the first version of their 53-man roster for Week 1 of the regular season. It's important to keep in mind that an 53-man roster is fluid, but as of now, these are the 53 men the Vikings will march into battle with every week. Below, we'll break down the roster on each side of the ball and special teams.

The Vikings felt comfortable rolling with just two quarterbacks after coming away impressed with Mannion during the preseason. This was an interesting decision when you consider how well third-string developmental quarterback played during the preseason. The signed him to their practice squad on Sunday. Earlier this preseason, he threw for 102 yards and a touchdown against the Cardinals.

On Tuesday, , who the once selected No. 22 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. He caught 44 passes for 532 yards and two touchdowns in 2018. Some of those numbers were career highs, but he just never developed into the star the Redskins wanted him to be. Ian Rapoport reports that Minnesota , and because his 2019 salary of $1.8 million is guaranteed, most of that will be paid by the Redskins.

The Vikings instead opted to roll with just four wide receivers on their initial 53-man roster before signing Doctson, after reportedly trying and failing to tradea statement on Tuesday afternoon."Newcastle United can confirm that Neil Redfearn has stepped down from his role as head coach of the club's Under-23 side," it read."He officially took up the position in June 2019 and also assisted Ben Dawson during former first-round bust . The Vikings' depth chart on the defensive side of the ball is strongest on the defensive line. Veterans Hunter, Griffen and Joseph lead the way.

The Vikings released veteran cornerback Bene Benwikere last week. He was slated to back up Rhodes and Alexander on the right side. In three preseason games, he has recorded five combined tackles and one pass defensed. Boyd now takes his spot.

The Vikings also traded for Fields, who was most recently a cornerback with the , for a conditional selection in the 2021 NFL Draft. The rookie out of Clemson recorded just 39 total tackles and one interception during his four collegiate seasons, but Minnesota believes he has NFL potential.

It's been since has been employed by an , but that's a number that would be much lower if one receiver had gotten his way back in 2017.

During , wide receiver revealed that he wanted his team to go after Kaepernick after went down Gamper Sports Centre this morning to take training.Valverde arrived at the training centre two hours before any members of his staff or players were seen.Mundo Deportivo says Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu will also be at the centre today and with a season-ending ACL injury two years ago.

At the time of Watson's Week 8 injury, the Texans were sitting at 3-4 and just one game out of first place in the AFC South. With the Texans still in contention for a division title, Hopkins was hoping his team would go after Kaeperick, but instead, they ended up signing T.J. Yates.

So how did Hopkins feel after the Texans took a pass on Kaepernick?

"I was upset," Hopkin said. "Everybody needed to give Kaep a look. He can help a team win. I've seen a lot of quarterbacks that's not as good as Kaep, but teams don't want the heat behind them."

After Yates was signed, Texans coach Bill O'Brien said the team had internal discussions about adding Kaepernick, but those discussions didn't go anywhere.

"These things are discussed basically daily, and it's ," O'Brien said in 2017, via ESPN.com. "Colin Kaepernick's a good football player [but he] hasn't played football in a while. But these things are discussed daily and they'll continue to be discussed."

At the time of Yates' signing, Kaepernick had only been out of football for eight months.

In the end, the Texans ended up moving forward with Yates and , and that decision definitely didn't pay off. With Watson out, those two combined to go 1-8 over the final nine weeks of the season.

Although Hopkins is more than happy ed team-mates after scoring a hat-trick in their 4-2 win at Burnley.Pulisic has endured a difficult start to life at Stamford Bridge after losing his place in the starting XI before being reinstated by Frank Lampard at Turf Moor."The first few monthsto have Watson as his quarterback, the receiver does still support Kaepernick. During the 2018 season, Hopkins wore a Kaepernick jersey before a game, something that he eventually took heat for on the internet.

"You get heat for being pictured, man. That's crazy," Hopkins said. "I like it when people show their true colors, though. Like, how do you get mad at somebody for wearing something that's peaceful?"

The 2017 season was a tumultuous one for Hopkins. Not only did he deal with Watson's injury, but he also almost skipped a game as a way to protest comments that Texans owner Bob McNair.

"We can't h Jagielka is set to depart the club after 12 years of service. The 36-year-old centre-back joined from Sheffield United in 2007 and has been a mainstay for the Goodison Park club.He has been club captain since 2013, when Phil Neville left."It's been have the inmates running the prison," McNair reportedly said at an NFL meeting during the height of the national anthem protests.

After Hopkins read about that quote, he immediately decided he wasn't going to be attending practice that day. As a matter of fact, Hopkins was so upset with the quote that he almost decided to skip the Texans' Week 8 game in Seattle.

"Hell yeah, I was about to sit out the game," Hopkins said. "But I definitely wasn't going to practice. A couple of my teammates about to follow me, but they called them back up to the stadium. They tried calling me, but I wasn't going back. Hell no."

Although Hopkins was upset at the time, he holds no ill will against McNair, who .

"It feels like I'm a slave again. Getting ran over. Listen to the master, go to work. But I took into consideration that he was older -- RIP, his soul," Hopkins said. "He was a good man, but some people they don't really… When you grow up certain places, you talk a certain way."

The only reason Hopkins ended up playing against the is because he didn't want to let his teammates down.

"I play for them," Hopkins said. "I don't play for nobody else but my teammates and my family. That's it."

Although Hopkins ended up playing in that Week 8 game, things didn't go so well for the Texans, because that ended up being the game .

Hopkins had a career-high 1,572 receiving yards last season in a year where Watson managed to stay healthy. If both players can stay healthy in 2019, they might become one of the most unstoppable QB-WR duos in the NFL.
