  • Chargers officially announce firing of offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt

The are in the middle of a challenging season that seemingly gets worse by the day, and they're ready to start makingorata suffered a meltdown AFTER being sent off in victory at Real Mallorca.Morata saw red after being booked twice in a minute for clashing with Mallorca players, the second following an altercation with Salva Sevilla. In the mixed zone after the 2-0 changes because of it. Despite having ended their three-game slide by defeating the on the road in Week 8, it was by just one point and mostly due to a missed field goal that could've sent them to a 2-6 record on the year.

Their 17 points scoreWatford are eyeing AC Milan fullback Ricardo Rodriguez. The Switzerland international is ready to leave Milan in January after battling for minutes this season.Tuttosport says Rodriguez's agents are speaking with clubs across Europe to find him a new destination.Napoli and Fenerbahce are keen, as are Watford. For his part, Rodriguez has harboured ambitions of playing in England in the future.d was just barely enough to get the job done, and Ken Whisenhunt has been relieved of his duties as offensive coordinator on Monday -- -- as they work to improve their offense overall. The Chargers are currently 23rd in the NFL in points scored per game, with their 19.6 average being a key reason for their poor start.

Injuries across the board have played a part as well, but Whisenhunt simply couldn't overcome them on the offensive side of the ball to make the Chargers a competitive team week in, week out.

A wild Week 8 is in the books and there's a lot to go over. Fortunately Will Brinson, John Breech, Ryan Wilson and Sean Wagner-McGough are here to break everything down on the latest episode of the Pick Six Podcast. Listen to the full show below and  for daily  goodness.

The 57-year-old was hired by the CLeague opponents Bayern Munich.Bayern thumped Chelsea 3-0 in London for the first-leg of their round of 16 tie.Speaking in an interview with Chelsea's website, Giroud said: “It's nearly impossible [for Chelsea to come back and knock out Bayern] buthargers in 2016 to take over the role after spending his previous two seasons as head coach of the , and this ends his second stint with the team -- having been offensive coordinator in 2013 when the team played in San Diego. Where the Chargers go from here should be announced soon, but worst case will see head coach Anthony Lynn take over play-calling duties for now.

The season isn't yet over, despite their struggles, and it's clear they're hoping they can right their ship by throwing Whisenhunt overboard.

  • Sam Darnold medically cleared to play, will start for Jets in Week 6 vs. Cowboys

The finally have their quarterback back. On Tuesday, New York that has been medically cleared to play and will start when they host the in Week 6. Darnold missed the past three games with mono. There was seemingly a chance that the second-year quarterback could have returned last week as he took all of the first-team reps, but tests on his spleen last Thursday didn't come back as positively as the Jets would have hoped and he was held out once again.

Now, that issue is seemingly in the rearview mirror. The Jets announced on Tuesday that Darnold is back.

"I feel good. Energy's awesome," Darnold told"The Michael Kay Show" on Monday prior to being cleared, via the team website. "Just looking to play this week, but (have to) wait for the doctor's orders tomorrow. I'm excited to hear the news, I have a feeling it's going to be good news. I thought maybe it would come last week, but had to wait it out again. Hopefully this week it's better news and I get to practice and get ready for a game on Sunday."

Darnold only played in the season opener for the Jets where he threw for 175 yards and a touchdown, while completing 68.3% of his passes in that Week 1 loss to Buffalo.

In his absence, New York first promoted as their WeeNew Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri has reveInter Milan this month.Eriksen has agreed terms over a move to Inter Milan, but is still waiting on other offers from elsewhere. The Jets then turned to under center, who completed 64.4% of his passes during those three games played for the Jets for 416 yards and three interceptions.

New York was averaging just over seven points-per-game over the course of Darnold's absence, so they will be looking for an uptick in offensive efficiency now that he's back to full strength. His immediate return, however, does come at a rough point of the Jets' schedule as they play the Cowboys and the over the next two weeks.

The Jets are currently 0-4 on the year.

  • Case Keenum to start at quarterback for Redskins in Week 6 with Dwayne Haskins named as backup

The are going back to after all. On Friday, interim head coach Bill Callahan confirmed to reporters that Keenum will again be the starter against the in Week 6. Callahan praised Keenum's work ethic, and said that he has the makeup of a "solid starter."

On Wednesday,  reported that Keenum would likely get the first start in the post-Jay Gruden era. He was inactive last week with a foot injury.

In a surprise move, Callahan named rookie as the backup instead of , who started in the Redskins' Week 5 loss to the .

Callahan announced earlier this week that either Keenum or McCoy would start for the Redskins moving forward, saying that while Haskins is the future of the franchise, he's not currently a cawelcome Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos into the Spanish Olympics squad with open arms.De la Fuente will take charge of the U23 squad for the 2020 Tokyo Games and Ramos has made no secret of his desire to be there."Firstly, I must congratulate him ondidate to start. However, Callahan is adopting a change of philosophy with the team's franchise quarterback. Haskins will be taking first-team reps in practice for the remainder of the year as the Redskins prepare him to start down the line.

'He will be able to take repetitions at some point, whether it's at the beginning, the end, the middle," Callahan said, . "But we're really cognizant of trying to rep him up during the course of record-breaking 1.12 billion viewers watched the 2019 Women's World Cup, a Fifa report says. The USA lifted their fourth title with a 2-0 win over the Netherlands in France, in a final which had an estimated average live audience of 82.18 million. The the practice so that he is prepared and that he does obvainst Southampton. The result saw Arsenal drop to ninth in the Premier League, nine points below their tally at the same stage last season. AAdams told BT Sport: "I'm just smashed to bits with the performance. At one point Ozil was sweeper, getting thiously get exposure to game-type repetitions that can get him potentially to a starting position here in the future or next year, whatever it may be."

Haskins has played in just one game for the Redskins this year, throwing for 107 yards and three interceptions in relief duty for Keenum during a Week 3 loss to the .

Keenum has completed 68.1 percent of his passes for 970 yards with seven touchdowns, four interceptions and a 93.8 passer rating in four starts. McCoy went 18 for 27 for 199 yards with an interception in his lone start last week.

The Redskins are going with their best option in Keenum, a sign they are ready to break into the win column.

  • Patriots’ Isaiah Wynn reportedly to undergo MRI after suffering toe injury in win over Dolphins

The registered a huge 43-0 win against the on Sunday, but they also suffered a loss.

Left tackle left the game after just 11 snaps and did not return. Ian Rapoport reported that the former University of Georgia star to get it checked out on Monday. The severity of the injury is unknown, but if it's turf toe, then he is expected to miss some time.

The Patriots' No. 23 overall pick in the 2018 missed his entire rookie season after he tore his Achilles in hilippe Coutinho this summer. Both Ousmane Dembele and Coutinho have been linked with moves away from the Camp Nou, notably in a potential swap deal for Neymar, but the president made clear that Barcelona have put a lot of faith in the two players."Ththe second game of the preseason. Through the first two games of this year, Wynn has impressed as blindside blocker. He's only been sacked three times so far this season, but if Wynn misses some time, Brady's protection will definitely take a hit.

  • Justin Herbert NFL Draft scouting report: What went right and what didn’t go right against Montana

Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert could be a polarizing prospect during the NFL Draft process. He possesses all the traits: size, enough mobility to extend the play and a cannon attached to his right arm. However, he has been inconsistent with his accuracy and other fine details. CBS Sports took a deep dive into the Oregon native's tape against Montana.

What Herbert did weesse Lingard should have scored his chance early in their 2-0 loss to Watford. The Red Devils suffered a humiliating Premier League defeat against the team that was rock bottom of the table. But they did have a golden opportunity to take the lead earlyll

As noted, Herbert possesses ideal size. He has devoted his offseasons to gaining weight necessary to withstand the brutal hits that he could sustain within the Pac-12 and . His sturdy frame allows him to shake off would-be tacklers and have a second chance to make a play. It was on display Saturday in the team's 35-3 win over Montana. On one of his five touchdown passes, Herbert side-stepped a defender, rolled out of the pocket and threw a duck to wide receiver Johnny Johnson III for an 18-yard touchdown in the final minute of the first half.

Oregon did not receive much competition from the Grizzlies. The quarterback completed 30-of-42 pass attempts for 316 yards and five touchdowns. There were a lot of screens where yards after the catch boosted his statistics, but that happens with all quarterbacks. Last season, Herbert completed just 59.4 percent of his passes. Those results were due to poor footwork in the pocket. It looks as though he worked hard on his technique this offseason because he has completed 77.3 percent of his passes in 2019.

The 21 year old looked really calm and comfortable in the pocket this weekend. He was able to estabUnder new boss Lampard, the Denmark international has started in all three games, and gave a glimpse into what it is like under the iconic former Chelsea midfielder."So far, it's been good," Christensen told Sky Sports. "I've got a lot of game time ilish a solid base and align his body with the target for most of the game. Montana senior inside linebacker Dante Olson and senior safety Josh Sandry are both potential draft prospects, but it is difficult to compete against an Oregon offensive line that features five future NFL linemen.

On this touchdown to tight end Jacob Breeland, Herbert pump fakes to the running back in the flat (reminder, they threw a lot of screens) and it drew Sandry up, which allows Bree United midfielder Sean Longstaff.Toon have no desire to sell Longstaff, who is under contract until 2022.However, ESPN claim United have hope the 21-year-old could be convinced about a move to Old Trafford. The Red Devils have been in discussions witland to sneak up the sideline for an easy pitch and catch.

Those are some of the small details that Herbert needs to continue improving upon. I wanted to start with those because it is always easy to take the check down in the end: his arm strength. There are not many college quarterbacks who can throw the out route like Herbert. On the first play of this montage, the 6-foot-6, 237 pound quarterback shows off his arm by throwing the ball just as Breeland gets his head around to find the ball.

When a strong-armed quarterback can throw with this much anticipation, the defense has no chance.

    Where Herbert could improve

While there were more positives than negatives this week, Herbert can always find an area for improvement. When pressured, it appears that Herbert gets flustered and is known to take his eyes from downfield. He does not have a natural feel in the pocket yet. There are quarterbacks playing on Sunday who seemingly have eyes in the back of their head and can detect the faintest sense of danger.

Ball placement could be better for the Eugene, Oregon native. He made a dangerous throw down the sideline that should have gone to the back shoulder. The defender was in the hip pocket of the wide receiver every step of the way.

He has done a better job of manipulating the defense with his eyes, as noted in the wheel route that went for a touchdown above. There are times where he will stare down a receiver. On this play, as Ian Wharton notes, he senses a little bit of pressure and tries to fit the ball into a tight window but it sails low and behind. The ball falls harmlessly to the ground, but the linebacker was watching his eyes the entire time. If he could have held the linebacker with his eyes for one more second, then a window may have opened. He was already feeling the pressure of the blitz though.

Herbert can get away with that at the collegiate level but the success rate will not be nearly as high in the big leagues. He has a strong arm but he can ill afford to give the defensive back an advantage. On a wide receiver screen, he did not see the linebacker playing up and it could have been a pick six had it been six inches lower.

Herbert has already shown better accuracy and more consistency in his mechanics this season to go along with his strong arm and ideal frame. If he can improve his pocket awareness and his understanding of what the defense is showing him, as well as how to manipulate the defense with his eyes, then he will be impossible to defend.

will continue to monitor his progression but there are several reasons to like what he brings to the table. There is no way that the Ducks quarterback falls to the second round. Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa is his primary competition to be the No. 1 overall selection in the 2020 . He has the higher upside but his floor is starting to rise as well.

  • Raiders owner Mark Davis takes Allegiant Air flight, sits in the commercial section

owner Mark Davis is taking his new partnership very seriously.

Late Sunday night, Davis was spotted on an Allegiant Air flight sitting in the commercial section. A Twitter user spotted Davis and posted a photo in which you can clearly see that it's the Raiders' owner on the flight.

The Raiders have a partnership with Allegiant Air, who has the naming right for the franchise's new stadium in Las Vegas. Allegiant Stadium is estimated to be a $1.9 billion project and will serve as the Raiders new home beginning in 2020.

Obviously, Davis can definitely afford a seat in first class or use his own private jet if he chose to. Davis is worth an estimated $500 million, but that didn't stop fans from poking fun at him for taking a commercial flight.

The Raiders are attacker Xherdan Shaqiri.Xhaka has offered to give up the role to Shaqiri if that is the reason behind his self-imposed international exile."If the captain's band really is the problem, tckroom staff. The ex-Nigeria international is still playing for Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super League, having spent a brief stint with Middlesborough in the Championship. However, African press reports have suggested he will leave Turkey this summer hen we can sit together at one table," he said."We are grown upcurrently 1-1 in their final season in Oakland after an opening week victory over the . • Bills release ex-rugby player Christian Wade ahead of final NFL roster cutdowns

It's another surprising move for the .

On a day whenew contracts with the press. The Spurs manager is not happy about the way potential incoming and outgoing transfers are covered by the press. When asked about the futures of Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld, Pochettino said that he preferred not the team made the ahead of the roster deadline, they've doubled down on their commitment to the curveball by also showing the door. Wade gained notoriety recently as a former rugby star that clawed his way onto an NFL roster in 2019, with the odds of him landing on a 53-man roster being initially slim. That all changed once the preseason got in full swing, though, because Wade made his presence felt in a big way when the Bills took on the in early August.

, the odds of him having established his pro football potential flipped in his favor, but it ultimately wasn't enough. Wade was released by the Bills on Saturday ahead of the 4 p.m. EST deadline, joining a slew of others -- including McCoy -- as players looking for a new home.

The differsays he wants to play on next season. The Belgian struck the winner last night against Leicester City as his team returned to the top of the table."Absolutely not," Kompany said when asked if he was retiring at the end of his contract next month."I'm ence here is while McCoy is a vested veteran not subject to waivers, Wade must wait 24 hours to learn where he may or may not be headed. If he goes unclaimed, he'll be free to sign with any team he chooses, and he hopes he's put enough on film in August to at least warrant getting a phone call from one of the other 31 clubs.

It's also possible he could end up back in Buffalo as a member of the team's 10-man practice squad unit, giving them speedy insurance in their WR unit. Wade made his way to the NFL via the league's International Pathway Program, which allowed him to at least achieve the first part of h Guardiola admits they face losing Leroy Sane. wide receiver hasn't played a down for the Silver and Black yet, and after Friday's news, one has to wonder if he ever will.

While the seven-time Pro Bowler has missed practice time du City against Cardiff City on the weekend. The 23-year-old warned by the FA for an 'obscene gesture' he made towards Cardiff fans during Sunday's 0-0 draw."We received a letter from the FA, talking about Oli's future conduct, which is quite right, I be to a which mangled the bottoms of his feet, it's now issues with his.

According to Adam Schefter, Brown has reportedly told team officials that unless he gets to wear his old helmet, . Michael Silver reported that Brown has recently alarmed the Raiders coaches and players by,  a policy change which will force Brown to sport a new style of helmet on the field in 2019. That plus his current absence from camp has created a major distraction for Oakland. Brown even reportedly tried to with Raiders colors in order to try to fit in at practice.

Naturally, this newest Antonio Brown saga became the most discussed story of the day, and it set social media ablaze:

There is one big winner when it comes to this latest report and that's HBO's "Hard Knocks." They chose to cover the Raiders this offseason, and with the season premiere coming just last week, they will have plenty to unpack in the coming episodes. The vibe has abruptly changed from just a couple weeks ago when . The also have to feel pretty good not being at the center of this story.

Another noteworthy tidbit is that Brown said he may quit footbottenham.Woodgate hosts his former club on Sunday in the third round of the FA Cup.He reflected: "I thought they would have won something under Maur Champions League clash with Liverpool is the biggest game of his career.Haaland is one of Manchester United's top targets ahead of the January transfer window, but he insists his total focus is on Liverpool."I'm just focused on my job: playing footbicio Pochettino, I thought he did an amazing job, especially with the budget he had."But I'm sure thatall and that is not an empty threat. • Tyreek Hill claims he was teaching his son to box, apologizes for ‘disrespectful’ language

For the first time , spoke to the media on Sunday and apologized for featuring about his child and then fiancee Crystal Espinal.

In the audio, Hill is heard telling Espinal "You  of me, too, b--ch" when she tells him that the child is "terrified" of Hill. It is not up for debate whether or not it was Hill on the audio. He has admitted as much. During his press conference Sunday, Hill referred to that language as "disrespectful."

I'm just here to man up to what I did. On audio. My bad language. I'm going to man up to that. I don't want nobody talking to my little sister, my daughter, my mom like that. It's very disrespectful."

The message Hill was attempting to convey makes sense. The words he used? It doesn't feel as if the situation had the full impact on him that one would hope. Telling a woman -- or, really, any other human being -- they need to be terrified of re is out of Saturday's clash against Newcastle. The 27-year-old - who missed last weekend's draw against Sheffield United to injury - is battling a minor groin injury.Wilshere has featured in eight games this season in all competitions, but has been you and using the B word? Disrespectful is selling those words a little short.

Hill was also asked by reporters about Espinal's claims that he punches their child in the chest. In the audio, she said "Which you do, when he starts crying. Which you do. You make him open up his arms and you punch him in the chest. And then if he gets in trouble, you get the belt out."

The receiver, in what was the final question allowed by PR, claimed he "really can't get into that" and then attempted to say that the punching was a reference to boxing lessons he would give his son because the child is a fan of super heroes and likes to box.

That's not a typo: Hill's literal excuse was that his son "loves Iron Man" and so sometimes he boxes with his three-year-old child.

"Punching my son in the chest would probably refer to me teaching my son how to box," Hill said. "Cause we do got boxing gloves at our house. And our son, like, he's like Iron Man, he loves Iron Man, Aqua Man, he's like 'Daddy, daddy, come on,' all the time."

Kids like to rough house. They do it frequently. But the idea that a three-year-old being a fan of Iron Man and Aqua Man and therefore wanting to engage in physical combat does not really compute. It sounds like a questionable excuse provided for a terrible, alleged parenting act. There is never an excuse for punching a three-year-old child. Nothing could possibly justify it. Ever.

It is worth noting that on the original audio that leaked out, . And on Sunday he said that things get the EFL Trophy after defeat to Tranmere Rovers.Tahith Chong's double was not enough for United to qualify from their group after falling to a 3-2 defeat to League Two side Tranmere Rovers. An entertaining first half saw United go a goal down after ontaken "out of context" when "feelings get involved."

Hill was cleared of all charges by the district attorney in the matter, although the DA did say the belief was some crime occurred, but prosecutors and authorities could not determine who did the act in question.

"This office has reviewed all the evidence and has declined to file charges against Tyreek Hill and Crystal Espinal," Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe said. "We are deeply troubled by the situation. We be to warn his players before Matty Longstaff's winning goal for Newcastle on debut.Solskjaer was seen giving instructions to Andreas Pereira on the touchline in the second half but struggled to get his message across to Scott McTominay and Fred as he lieve a crime has occurred; however, the evidence in this case doesn't establish who committed a crime."

The did its investigation leading up to training camp and ultimately concluded it could not determine if Hill violated the Personal Conduct Policy.

  • Today’s Top Picks: The ‘Hard Knocks’ wager I would definitely make, plus best bets on MLB and WNBA

The 2019 season of HBO's "Hard Knocks" premiered Tuesday night, with the focus this year being on the . "Hard Knocks" has long been one of my favorite annual television shows, both for the behind-the-scenes looks and access it provides to , but also because it serves as a landmark in the sports calendar.

Also, the reaction to the first episode is predictable. I wish there were a sportsbook that offered odds on how it will be received.

Fans of the show and the get themselves excited for the show's premiere much for the same reasons I do. Then the first episode arrives and is met with a bunch of people saying it was "boring." This happens for a few reasons. One is that the expectations viewers have are so high for the show, and it's hard to meet them. The bigger reason is that the first episode documents the first week of training camp.

Nothing happens during the first week of training camp.

The episode's purpose is to set the narrative and introduce you to players it's going to follow. Sure, you'll see some cute moments between players and their kids, and you'll get and holding hands while riding horses, but other than those moments, the first episode is going to be boring because barring something incredible happening, there's not much to work with.

When the biggest story of the Raiders first week of camp is , there's not going to be a lot to work with, all right?

Now let's get to tonight's picks. All odds are via William Hill.

    1. at : Pirates +112

The Brewers are a different team on the road. While they're 33-24 at Miller Park, outside of it they've gone 26-32. At home, the Brewers offense has a wOBA of .336. On the road, it's .311. So when I see them favored on the road against a divisional opponent, I already see an opportunity to take advantage. That advantage is even greater when Milwaukee's starting pitcher is the newly acquired . The decided to keep all their best trade assets this summer and make a run for a wild card, yet they felt fine parting ways with Pomeranz. That should tell you what you need to know, but in to reach Leicester on Boxing Day.Supporters were upset to find out the Premier League confirmed the match would kick-off at 8pm.No trains usually between Leicester and Liverpool on the day after Christmas.Instead it will cost fans only 5 pound for a case it doesn't, Pomeranz has an ERA of 6.10, has a walk rate 21 percent above league average, and allows home runs at a rate 57 percent above league average. Take the home 'dog.

    2. at : Over 9

If you look at the ERAs of the starters in this matchup, you see that Arizona's is at 2.72 while Philly's is at 3.61. Those aren't bad at all! But when you dig deeper, and you see they have respective xFIPs of 4.46 and 5.04, you get a better idea of how they've performed. Gallen gets a lot of strikeouts, but he walks too many batters, while Vargas doesn't get many strikeouts at all, and walks a few too many batters himself. Take advantage of a total that's set about a run too low.

    3. New York Liberty at Chicago Sky: Under 164

The Liberty move quickly on offense but have one of the least efficient offenses in the WNBA this season, ranking 10th of 12 teams. They aren't much better defensively, either, as they rank last in efficiency, leaving them with the WNBA's 11th-worst net rating of -7.4. They're facing a Sky team that moves even quicker, but is better both offensively and defensively, but I'm aving a match early when he was caught on camera exiti Saturday's 2-1 win over Spurs at Stamford Bridge. And it looks as though Lampard will give the World Cup winner another chance to impress when Bayern Munich come to West London on Tuesday for the Champions League last-16 first leg. He said: "It is a ng the win over Leganes before the final whistle on Wednesday night. The Welshman was not part of Zinedine Zidane's match day squad but was in attendance to watch the action at the Bernabeu.Howevernot a big fan of the Sky being 8-point favorites here. It's a little too large to trust. I do like the under, however, because I don't trust the Liberty to hold up their end of the bargain offensively. So while you can go with the Sky -8, or even parlay the Sky and the under if you're feeling frisky, I'm a lot more comfortable projecting this total to stay under.
